On Feb 25, CCCOEO Executive Director James Wynn, Director Arlene Almonte, LRAP program staff Ismael Ocasio & Nelson Colon, alongside LRAP clients Joyce and Joan, Isles Director of Policy Ben Haygood & Policy Advocate Ruth DelPino, and Green and Healthy Homes Initiative Healthy Housing Coordinator Natasha Tabachnikoff met with Assemblyman Lou Greenwald’s staff to demonstrate the benefits and community impacts of LRAP and explain how action is needed at the state level to ensure continued funding.
On March 3, Assemblyman Spearman and his staff toured the home of an LRAP client as contractors worked to replace lead paint contaminated windows. |

As of December 2025, over 1960 housing units have been made lead-safe through NJ DCA's Lead Remediation and Abatement Program (LRAP). Use this map, developed by New Jersey Future intern, Juliet Rosa, to explore how many units have been completed in each municipality. |

Lead Paint Remediation Funding and Training Opportunities

Lead-Free NJ Holistic Lead Advocacy
Lead-Free NJ members are advancing advocacy efforts for holistic lead exposure prevention. Contact cbolinger@njfuture.org to engage with any of these advocacy items:
- The Clean Water, Healthy Families, Good Jobs Campaign asks that the Sherrill-Caldwell Administration restore state funding for water infrastructure investments to $60 million.
- The NJ Lead and Copper Rule has been proposed. A public hearing is scheduled for March 10, and written public comments are accepted through April 3.
- Engagement with NJDOE on funding for school lead in drinking water remediation. The NJDOE is required to launch a water filter pilot program, funded with $2 million in state funds this school year.
- Engagement with NJDOH with rulemaking on P.L. 2025 c.193, P.L.2025 c.144 (laws requiring lead testing during pregnancy and disclosure of lead in drinking water hazards to renters)
- Advancing policy research and local distribution of water filters to reduce exposure from lead in drinking water.
